Tacita Dean

-Tacita Dean (born 1965) in Canterbury, England. She's a visual artist.
From 1985-1988 she attended the Art School in Falmouth. She had a scholarship from the Greek government to the Supreme School of Fine Arts in Athens (1989 - 1990). In the period 1990 - 1992 she attended the SladeSchool of Fine Arts in London. In Itially trained as a painterbut later dedicated to video, for which work she is initially.



Dean’s interest in the cinematic also extends to her work in other media. The Russian Ending 2001 borrows its title from the early Danish cinema tradition of making two alternative endings for a film: one happy for the American market and one tragic for the Russian market. 


She uses a variety of mediaincluding drawing, photography and sound. She has also published several books; these issuses complement the visual workHer most recent work does not include comments, but some of her texts are part of the video. She's one of theYoung British Artists.


The lattest Tacita Dean's work is a silent movie eleven minutes long, thatshe wanted to call "Film", which immerses the viewer in a series of "real life images" such as trees, waterfalls, fruits and buildings , which can be viewed in a vertical projection of large proportions in the turbine hall of Tate Modern in London.
